Randy Bueckendorf
President Randy Bueckendorf founded BEX Construction Services after a lifelong career leading field construction. His passion for working hands-on with his team and clients has energized an aggressive rate of growth, landing BEX on the list of Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in the St. Louis region in 2021, 2022 and 2023. That growth has funded development of a strong team with wide-ranging capabilities in retail, commercial, industrial and institutional construction.
Bueckendorf was all set to begin college at Saint Louis University, with a spot on the SLU Soccer Billikens, when he detoured to follow his father and grandfather into the Carpenters. His leadership skills and passion for effective planning quickly became evident and, he soon became a superintendent, running field crews from the age of 19.
The outstanding performance and strong relationships he built earned him a key leadership position at Brinkmann Constructors. But his yen to strike out on his own was stronger than staying put. After partnering with a co-owner in 2007, he shifted in 2014 to solo ownership to gain greater control over the values, quality and mission of his company.
Bueckendorf lives and breathes the core values of the BEX SHIELD: Service. Hard work. Integrity. Experience. Listen. Deliver. He has found that if BEX does one job well for a client, 10 more will follow – either directly or indirectly through new referrals. His leadership style has attracted an outstanding team who share his passion and funnel it into their own hands-on performance that delights customers and delivers great facilities. He studies incessantly to build the knowledge and wisdom needed. He is a voracious reader on all dimensions of leadership, a dedicated and enthusiastic member of a long-term peer group mentoring program and a student of several valued business coaches.
BEX Construction Services’ growth from $4.5 million in completed construction in 2014 to $79.57 million in 2022 is a testament to the values and principles that drive Randy and his team. Two factors have been key: 1) keeping current clients by earning repeat business and attracting new ones, and 2) attracting and retaining an exceptional team that pulls out all the stops to fulfill clients’ needs and desires.
