Maryland Heights Dogport Dog Park
2490 McKelvey Road, Maryland Heights, MO 63043
Total reconstruction of a happy space for off-leash play following a devastating flood in 2022.
Pre-construction services by BEX in close collaboration with the city’s director of public works and its parks superintendent yielded a complete civil design/build by BEX of the new park.
Because the original dog park had suffered repeated flooding from the nearby Fee Fee Creek, the city elected to reduce the park footprint, replace the original granite sand groundcover and install sod.
$630,000 project won a flood recovery grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). After a year of planning, the five-month construction project was completed by Labor Day 2023.
The park was relocated nearby to higher ground and BEX borrowed about 200 cubic feet of fill to raise the park elevation out of harm’s way.
After reshaping the site, BEX totally rebuilt interior fixtures and electrical features and installed new siding for restroom facilities.
Four seating areas, two topped by attractive pergolas, were built for the dog’s human friends.
“Our new park provides a great place for dogs to exercise and interact with other dogs. Our collaboration with BEX worked well due to the quick response and availability of the BEX team, which did a great job. They kept us informed of issues as they arose and worked quickly to resolve them.”
